From its inception in 1982, the Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) has grown nationwide to a program consisting of 58 individual centers.

These centers help city and county highway personnel by developing and delivering training manuals, computer programs, videotapes, and other tools to assist local highway agencies.

Texas LTAP's goal is to improve local city/county roads and bridges through technical assistance and training geared toward local government officials.
